Hi! I’m Claudia – I am 20, from Auckland, and part way through my fourth year of medical school in Melbourne. Food – whether that be in the form of baking, cooking, eating or cafe-hopping – is my biggest love, but if I’m not in the kitchen, you might find me studying, reading, out for a run or a swim, at the beach, or out with friends (or, as of now, working on this blog!). It is named the Brick Kitchen as my surname is Brick, and in our house at least it is definitely my domain!
My passion for food has been evident all my life – I have been told that even at 6 weeks old I would drool over whatever my parents were eating, and by 2 years was happily crawling uninvited into other people’s pantries in search of cookies. My mother and grandmother introduced me to baking basics at a young age, with chocolate chip cookies and chocolate muffins being family favourites, and my interest took off from there. I now own a small library of recipe books which seem to always end up out taking up space on our kitchen counter, spend far too much time planning my next meal, and am always on the look out for another new cafe or restaurant to try out. Although the main meals I make tend to be pretty healthy, the leash is off when it comes to indulgent desserts.
